Do you have plans this coming Wednesday?

If not, you might want to come to the Museo de la Ciudad de México (Calle Pino Suárez #30, Centro Histórico, near both the Zocalo and Pino Suárez metro stations) at 6:30 pm. First, they will screen Los ladrones viejos, an extraordinary documentary by Everardo González, which is more or less a Mexican version of Good Fellas, only it’s all too real. Afterwards, González and I will present J.M. Servín’s book D.F. confidencial, a tragicomic series of crónicas about some of the more desperate sides of Mexico City. For those who stick it out, mezcal will be served after the proceedings. That is this Wednesday, the 22nd, at 6:30 pm.

Have fun David. I sure wish I could come, but I’m hosting my own literary event [in California, of course.] I’ll keep an eye out for the book on Amazon. Have a mezcal for me!
    Happy Solstice.

listened to you on Rick Steves Podcast a few years ago and now I live here in Mx-City myself. Found your book a quite amusing (and realistic) read. I missed your presentation, however I hope there are more to come in the future.

    Saludos!

I would have loved to make it to the presentation, but since the bookstore Hyperion in Xalapa sells Almadía, I got the book instead. Great stories! Thanks for the tip!
And for anyone who lives in Xalapa – I can really recommend Hyperion (inside the culture café Tierra Luna). The owner is a former buyer of El Péndulo and has a similarly fresh variety of books. He’s actually trying to get Servín to present his book in Xalapa. We’ll see…
